P6 invited parents and guests to share in their STEM learning this morning with their Bridges Got Talent special assembly.
With bridges as their learning block 4 STEM topic, P6 worked hard to come up with assembly ideas and a fun format which both entertained and showcased their learning. The idea of Bridges Got Talent was born and as they took to the stage to demonstrate their design and engineering skills, you could see just how much the children have enjoyed this topic and the hard work they had put into both their bridge designs and their show.
Primary 6 hadn’t done any testing prior to taking the stage this morning and during and during the nail-biting climax, were challenged to see if their bridge could hold 3kg over a span of 60cm. There were a few wobbles, contortions and hearts in mouths as they live-tested their bridges but all 9 bridges held out (just) to be declared Bridges WITH talent.
Thank you to the incredibly talented P6 children for a wonderful show and fun-filled weeks of bridge building. We owe a very special thank you to Kate’s Dad for taking time to enhance our understanding and to give practical engineering advice on our bridge designs. We’d also like to thank our engineer guides, Pip and Steven and our parent helpers who gave up their time to support our Clyde bridges trail.
Finally, a big thank you to the parents and family members for taking time to support the children and see all the hard work they’ve put in to this topic.
