P2 used to eco week to have a positive impact on our school and local area. We undertook three different challenges to promote our new eco targets and to work towards our next green flag.
In the eco garden we cleared out and de-weeded the P2 planting tub. We raked the soil and Mrs Hanks helped divide up the planter so we could each plant some seeds. This year we’ve planted broccoli, so check back later in the year to see how it’s progressing.
For our class eco challenge, our P2 eco reps collated ideas from across the stage. As a class who spend a lot of time outdoors and like to make use of the park, the children felt helping to keep these areas clean was important. We decided that a litter pick would help and also meet one of our eco targets.
The third part of our Eco challenge was to create a new piece of art by recycling some materials. Reusing old pencil sharpenings and discarded pencils from the ‘treasure trove of pencils’, we created art using line drawings and carefully placed sharpenings.
