Welcome to our website.
We are very proud of our school, which aims to provide the highest quality of educational experience for our children. Hermitage Primary school is a happy, vibrant and hard working school and we work to provide as many opportunities as we can for our pupils, often in partnership with others – community members, other specialists and parents and carers. Within a nurturing, caring, safe environment, we set our standards high and our children engage in a very wide variety of tasks and activities, designed to extend and develop vital skills matched to their ongoing personal development. Working within Scottish Government Guidelines in A Curriculum for Excellence, lessons are motivating and enriching and pupils are keen to learn. Learning is stimulating and creative; we celebrate diversity and challenge learners.
Our School slogan is “Be the Best You Can Be!” – and we work to inspire children to take opportunity, believe in themselves and to be ambitious in their outlook.
Our school is built to a semi-open plan design with classrooms opening onto large project areas. There is an assembly / gym /dining hall with a stage and a technology room. In addition, a new extension wing was opened by Councillor Ellen Morton in 2014. The new wing replaced the former annexe building to the rear of the school and houses the primary seven classrooms and a brand new music, dance and drama studio.
We pride ourselves on our learning environment and stepping outdoors is no different. Recent developments include an imaginative play area with large dragon ship, storytelling area and outdoor performance area.
Our unique learning environment also includes an outdoor fitness park as well as a large amphitheatre which can be used as an outdoor classroom and for performance rehearsals. Our quiet area is very popular with readers and our new eco garden is helping our children to learn about sustainable living. We also share a multi-use all weather sports pitch with our neighbours at Parklands School.
The present roll of the school is 377 with three P1 classes and two classes in the other year groups (P2-P7).
