As you may know, as part of our RRS and Democracy topic work, Primary 6 have been suggesting ideas to members of the Scottish and Westminster parliaments on how to make Helensburgh more accessible for people who are disabled. On the 24th November, Brendan O’Hara MP for Argyll & Bute, came to visit us and to tell us all about his work as a Westminster MP.
In February, Jackie Baillie also came to visit us. She is helping us with with our quest to make Helensburgh train station more accessible. She updated us with news that ScotRail are aware of the situation and are now looking at putting a ramp in to replace the stairs at the door and they are hoping to add an automatic door to the train station as well. Mrs Baillie also told us some highlights of her job as an MSP.
We have also talked to the manager of Costa to add an automatic door so people in wheelchairs can also successfully access the shop. More on this soon…
