Following last week’s secret ballot, Returning Officers from Primary Six took to the stage at a special assembly this afternoon to announce the Pupil Council election results. Before declaring the results, Primary Six introduced some video highlights to explain their learning to date and how they had planned, organised and ran the election as part of their democracy topic challenge.
Each Returning Officer then declared the total number of votes cast for each class and named the candidates who would join the 2017-18 Pupil Council.
Primary Six then explained the work of their pollsters and how they had used their maths skills to scale-up their exit poll data so that they could attempt to predict the outcome of the election. We can tell you that they managed to correctly predict 70% of the eventual winners.
After thanking all pupils for taking time to vote in the election and helping with their challenge, the new Pupil Council took to the stage for a first photo call. Primary Six have just one part of their Democracy Challenge to complete.
