P2 recently spent some time in Hermitage Park looking for signs of the changing season. Challenged to use their senses to describe changes that they could see, hear, touch… P2 then used what they discovered on their walk to write their first poems. Below you can see some of the photos from the walk and read some of their lines of poetry.
Autumn is coming…
I see leaves falling off trees and turning different colours like yellow, brown and orange.
I hear the birds tweeting and the trees swaying.
I smell the fresh conker shells broken on the ground.
I touch the damp soggy leaves from the trees.
I taste the sweet treats of Halloween.
The season is changing…
I see spider webs covered in dew.
I hear my feet crunching on the leaves.
I touch a spiky conker shell that has fallen off a tree.
I smell the sweet wet grass.
I taste hot chocolate. Autumn is here!
Summer is over and autumn is arriving…
I see the squirrels rushing up trees.
I hear birds tweeting in the high tree tops.
I touch jaggy leaves and cold frost.
I smell the fresh autumn air.
I taste the sweets and chocolate treats of Halloween.
Autumn is here…
I see a squirrel hibernating under a tree.
I hear the wind whistling through the trees.
I touch the dried out conkers on the ground.
I smell the damp leaves on the ground.
I taste warm hot chocolate and cold milk.
