It has been a busy time full of learning and exploring in Primary 1. As part of our RME topic, we have been learning all about welcoming a baby and remembering our time as babies too. We had to bring in some of our own baby pictures and guess whose pictures belonged to whom. We have also used our Numeracy skills to discuss and sort a range of toys for different ages of children to play with. One of the highlights was having the chance to, gently, bathe and clothe our class doll.
Our IDL topic is all about the post and how letters get from one place to another. We were very lucky to enjoy a trip out to the local sorting office to find out a bit about how letters are collected from the post box and sent to the correct places.
In our Art lessons, we have been exploring various skills such as printing and collage. We created some hedgehogs and leaves for our lovely display in the Autumn.
We are enjoying our reading and exploring various stories through our book of the week. One week, we read Jack Frost by Kazuno Kohara which inspired some of our artwork using white card cut in spikey shapes and chalk to make a wintry scene. We also enjoyed creating snowflake shape poems of cold words.
In Numeracy, we are enjoying using Numicon to help us learn about addition and to solve some word problems.
